Heroes Know How to Fight Germs (Level 1)
This activity module aims for children to build awareness and understanding about germs and how to keep themselves healthy and prevent sickness through handwashing. The learning objectives are to identify two types of germs called 'bacteria' and 'viruses' that can cause an illness, and to demonstrate how to stay healthy and prevent sickness by washing hands properly.
Aim: Introduce children to the concept of germs.

Time: 10-15 minutes
Aim: Show how germs are everywhere & our body’s defense system fights off germs in 2 ways.

Aim: Children learn that hand and face contact can cause the spread of germs.

Time: 15-20 minutes
Aim: Children conduct a scientific experiment related to germs.

Time: 10 minutes
Aim: Children learn to distinguish between bacteria and virus germs and good and bad bacteria.

Aim: To build good handwashing skills to help prevent the spread of germs.
Ignite interest – engage kids in conversation about how germs can be both good and bad for us, and that there are specific types of germs we should know about.
